Angels of Mercy
This contemporary painting shows three women who, during their lives, were revered for their compassion towards the victims and sufferers of the world and their passionate commitment to help these people.
These famous women, spanning over 175 years, epitomize the great virtues of caring and compassion; their place within the HOST OF ANGELS EXPERIENCE is to show our interpretation of 20th century "Angels".
In 2003 a survey, commissioned by the charity Crisis, to identify the most compassionate person from history or modern times, Mother Theresa (1910 - 1997), Princess Diana (1961 - 1997) and Florence Nightingale (1820 - 1910) come in the first four - Jesus Christ being the other person.
The painting was conceived by Elizabeth Heaton and executed in oils on a wood panel by Roger Heaton in 1999.
